Mud Fork

The sign welcoming you to the community of Mud Fork. It consists of a church and a bunch of houses.
Mud Fork runs from Stony Ridge to Falls Mills, quite a backroad trek. It turns into a gravel road over halfway to Falls Mills. Nothing much is left of Falls Mills and the lake is choking with lily pads and is probably only a few feet deep now.

We were surprised at the number of people that still live along Mud Fork. They even have fire hydrants out that way! These are what appeared to be two abandoned farms. According to Tazewell County history, Mud Fork was settled by freed slaves. It's a beautiful area! I have dibs on buying these old farms and restoring them!
